A Call To Arms
Hail, crusaders! I’m here today to bring you some awesome news and an exclusive preview about a new module coming from my friends over at SVD Press. SVD Press is what most of you formerly knew as the home of the Save Versus Death blog, and all things Fourthcore. The same creators that brought you Revenge of the Iron Lich, Crucible of the Gods, and Fane of the Heresiarch. SVD Press is supplying only the best in tournament deathtrap dungeons and challenging, unconventional supplements for games like Dungeon World, 13th Age, Swords & Wizardry, and more. Their upcoming release, Fortress of the Ur-Mage for Dungeon World is Dr. Davy Jones‘s (Murder of the Maelstrom Queen, Vault of the Wyrm Prince, Tower of the Ascendants) latest masterpiece.
Defy Death Itself
The Ur-Mage opens the doors of his fortress once each decade, allowing the heroes and demigods of the realm to enter. Legend has it that a great prize waits within the fortress, the Wand of Death itself, and a crusader bearing the wand could command the dead, shatter the planes, and slay gods. Fortress of the Ur-Mage is the first SVD Press adventure to feature a competitive head-to-head mode, where multiple parties delve the dungeon at the same time. Competing bands of crusaders can hinder each other by stealing relics, laying traps, freeing monsters, and manipulating the dungeon environment itself.
Take A Peek Inside
I’ll be bringing you 3 previews this week, the first 2 will each be an entrance into the fortress, although we’re not giving them all away as there are a grand total of 4 entrances. On Thursday you’ll get a peek at the interior room, Passage of Time. Today though, we’re going to focus on The Golden Vestibule, a lethal entryway full of secrets.
Fortress of the Ur-Mage will be available from SVD Press on September 11th, 2015. I’ll be bringing you another preview every day this week leading up to its release on Friday. Also, there are whispers of a giveaway as well. So stay tuned for more!
I want to play this in competitive mode so bad! This looks awesome.
Joe: I am 100% on board with this idea.
I wonder how hard it would be to coordinate a competitive mode session online? Use Twitter for GM announcements?
All it would take is eight crusaders, two private G+ communities, and one Corset of the Marilith wearing DM. I think I know a guy…
What a terrific opening to unleash this beast! First room and the scrubs better be at their best with at least 2 instakills for the unwary! And those boons are nothing to take lightly! I can only imagine how this thing escalates!
Wow, awesome start- definitely an attention grabber from the get-go!
ROLL+SLOW CLAP, I know this is going to live up to its hype as being as brutal as I hoped it would be.
